Scavenger Hunt Group Date Night

I’ve written in the past about taking yourself outside of your comfort zone to grow as an individual. You have to make sure you add a little bit of crazy into your life on a regular basis to ensure personal growth. So of course I decided to continue with that idea by planning a Group Date Night for my husband that was bizarre and would intentionally take everyone out of their complacency for just a little while. I invited many of my husbands’ friends and family members. We had a great turnout. We will see how many of them return for the next Group Date Night that I plan.

This Date Night was entitled, “Scavenger Hunt.” All of the couples invited were asked to make sure that they had at least one smart phone between them. I set up a folder in my Dropbox account which is a great storage site for your pictures, documents, videos, etc., but also a great sharing site. They all had access to this common folder where all of their pictures and videos could be loaded from their phones. I printed up a list of tasks for them to complete. We met at Wildwood Metro Park in Toledo, OH, on a Sunday afternoon. I divided everyone up into groups and handed out the task lists. I also took a couple of minutes to explain the rules. Everyone took off from there. I made sure to include ideas that would take them to a few different locations. They were given a little under 3 hours to complete the tasks and make it to the Blarney Event Center in Downtown Toledo. There we had dinner, drinks and watched the videos and pictures on the big screen. Each task was worth one point with additional points awarded for having your entire team in them, or other extra credit points for videos and more difficult missions. Each team tallied their points and was presented with prizes at the end. The results were absolutely hilarious and many people had some fantastic stories to tell. We actually had some “Good Deed,” tasks included as well. This would actually make a great activity for any type of party and could include children if you wanted. Of course some of the tasks would have to be altered. The videos are the best part. I have included some links to the videos here.

I also have a link to the actual Scavenger Hunt task sheet here.

I have already been asked to do it again. This may become an annual thing! Besides, what other way could I possibly get a chance to watch my husband deliver the most touching marriage proposal to a random, gentleman, stranger in the park? Thank God so many people in this city have a great sense of humor as well… except for the security guards at the mall but, that’s another story!
